Nha Trang is no longer a city: the four wards
Since 1 July 2025, Nha Trang is split into four wards of Khánh Hòa province. Lộc Thọ, Vĩnh Hòa and Phước Hải changed what they belong to.

The city of Nha Trang was dissolved on 1 July 2025. The name survives, but it now designates one ward among four — no longer the whole urban area.
01What changed
Khánh Hòa province merged with Ninh Thuận. The result keeps the name Khánh Hòa. The reform took effect on 1 July 2025.
On 16 June 2025, Resolution 1667/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee reorganised the province’s commune-level units. The former city of Nha Trang was split across several wards.
The new province has 65 commune-level units.
02The four wards
What was a city of twenty-seven wards and communes became four wards:
- Nha Trang — the centre: Vạn Thạnh, Lộc Thọ, Vĩnh Nguyên, Tân Tiến and Phước Hòa. 47.13 km², 136,118 inhabitants (2024).
- Nam Nha Trang — the south: Phước Hải, Phước Long, Vĩnh Trường, Vĩnh Thái and Phước Đồng.
- Tây Nha Trang — the west: Ngọc Hiệp, Phương Sài, Vĩnh Ngọc, Vĩnh Thạnh, Vĩnh Hiệp and Vĩnh Trung.
- Bắc Nha Trang — the north: Vĩnh Hòa, Vĩnh Hải, Vĩnh Phước, Vĩnh Thọ, Vĩnh Lương and Vĩnh Phương.
03What it changes in practice
The districts most guides name — Lộc Thọ for the tourist centre, Vĩnh Hòa to the north, Phước Hải to the south — still exist on the ground. They are no longer administrative units.
An address reading “Lộc Thọ, Nha Trang, Khánh Hòa” names a real place through two tiers that no longer exist in that form. It is still understood locally; an administrative form now expects one of the four wards.
A lease, a stay declaration or a registration made today uses the new naming.
04How to check it yourself

The Khánh Hòa province portal was not consulted directly on the verification date. The figures given here come from the published text of the resolution.
05If your documents predate July 2025
A booking, ticket or insurance policy naming “Nha Trang” is still valid: nothing has moved.
An online form that no longer offers the old division is not broken. It applies the new organisation.
06The principle behind the reform
Vietnam went from 63 provinces and cities to 34, and the district tier was abolished nationwide. Only the province remains, then the commune or the ward.
Nationwide, commune-level units drop from 10,035 to 3,321.
07What this sheet does not say
