Đà Lạt changed province: what changed in 2025
Since 1 July 2025, Đà Lạt belongs to a Lâm Đồng province that absorbed Đắk Nông and Bình Thuận — and now reaches the sea.

01What changed
Resolution 202/2025/QH15 merges Lâm Đồng, Đắk Nông and Bình Thuận into a single province, keeping the name Lâm Đồng. The reform took effect on 1 July 2025.
A province that was entirely highland now includes a coastline — the former Bình Thuận, and Phan Thiết.
02What Đà Lạt has become
Đà Lạt was redrawn. Consistent sources report a move from twelve wards and four communes to five larger wards, each combining several areas of the former city and its outskirts.
That division could not be confirmed with a government source on the verification date. It is given for what it is: consistent, not official.
03What it changes in practice
A trip reading “Đà Lạt then Mũi Né” crossed two provinces. It now stays inside one.
An address naming Bình Thuận province refers to territory that still exists, under a different province name.
04How to check it yourself
Resolution 202/2025/QH15 sets the composition of the 34 provinces and cities. The internal division of each province then falls to a separate Standing Committee resolution.
The division of Đà Lạt into five wards is consistently reported by several sources, but was not confirmed with a government source on the verification date.
05What the new province covers
Lâm Đồng now joins three former provinces: Lâm Đồng, Đắk Nông and Bình Thuận. It runs from the highlands to the sea.
Places that answered to different authorities now sit inside one perimeter: Đà Lạt, the Dambri falls, Phan Thiết and Mũi Né.
06If your documents predate July 2025
An address naming Bình Thuận province is still understood locally. A form now expects Lâm Đồng.
An itinerary sold as crossing provinces no longer does, without a single road having changed.
07The principle behind the reform
The district tier disappears nationwide. Commune-level units drop from 10,035 to 3,321, a reduction of almost 67%.
